How do I come up with stories? I don't know. A lot of times my stories just develop when I hear a song that inspires me. I love country music (I know, I know) and I love Christian music. A lot of times I get inspired by what people say to me. Just a phrase and it'll get my wheels spinning. My stories develop in my head. That's why I'm never alone! Slightly scary, I suppose. In the beginning, because I just loved the whole writing process, I would worry about finishing a story and not having any idea for another. I found that wasn't a problem. Very funny. I'm inspired mostly by the difficulty of doing life and doing it well! And by well I don't mean having all our ducks in a row. Life is messy! If we can take a moment and just step back to think. God is faithful! If we can be still, know He is God, how many disasters can we face without stressing out completely, going off the deep end and running to things that can destroy us for comfort. And that is what I write about. God is teaching me, very slowly because I just seem to be a little dense sometimes, and very gently that He's really that kind of Lord. He is the Savior, the King of Kings. We just have to let Him be. So my stories are about life, about facing disasters with Christ and sometimes without Him. Our choice is always whether to go to Him or to handle our situations ourselves. We tend to be more blessed when we run to Him first and foremost. What always humbles me is that no matter how much I fret (because I don't fear, if you get my meaning) God keeps reminding me that this is His project. Not mine! Never mine. I don't know about you, but that's kind of cool.
My question to you is: What is God reminding you of today?
I would love to hear from you.
If you came up to me and asked what I do, I'd have to tell you that I'm a wife, mother and teacher. A writer? you ask. Wow. Now that is something I never thought I'd be. But through God, all things are possible.
