About the author

It was a stormy November morning in Hamburg, Germany...

That sounds like the beginning to a really good story. Hmm. My life has been a bit of a story. And, yes, I was born in Hamburg, Germany, where I lived until my teen years. My father's job allowed him to relocate us to - paradise. We moved to the United Arab Emirates and for the next 4 years I had it all. Horses, beach and lots of sand and sun. We trekked into the desert for numerous trips, sometimes stuck to the rims of our 4-wheel drive cars and trucks, and dug ourselves out - laughing.

I had the privilege to attend a small (emphasis on small) American boarding school in Austria for two years. Talk about being able to travel! We pretty much did Europe. It was very exciting.

When it came time to move on, I attended my first year of college at an American college in Arundel, England. I love England. Incidentally, I ran across this goofy guy, who kind of stole my heart on a trip to - wait for it - Russia. After running into a parade on the Red Square and being asked, very politely, to return to our hotel, we made it back to England in one piece. (Okay. I had no idea what the name of our hotel was and I don't know if anyone in our group knew) So this goofy guy returns to the States at the end of the semester and I decide it's time to make the jump. Best decision I ever made. We just celebrated our 27th wedding anniversary.

Once our college experience was over, we moved to Connecticut where we started our family. And grew in faith. After 2 wonderful children and some very exciting years, which I spent teaching horseback riding, God gifted us with another child. Right around that time I had decided to make my relationship with the Lord a real, concrete thing. Talk about turning my life upside down!

Within several years, He convinced me (kicking and screaming) to homeschool my children, age 14, 10 and 2. Oh, and that wasn't enough. I had to let go of my beloved horse, kicking and screaming and making lots of mistakes along the way.

Schooling my children was another huge blessing! I can't explain the bond we formed. Yes, it wasn't always peaches and cream, but we really learned how to be a family. After a few more ups and downs we ended up in southern Vermont on a property without a house and a lot of trees, rocks and more trees.

It was then that the Lord asked me to start writing down the stories He was giving me. It's been an exciting ride, once again. I hope that my stories inspire people to keep the hope, not give up, and most importantly to run to the Lord in everything first.

Why do I write

It's funny, really, that I never thought about writing. I looooove a good story, with fun characters, a bit of romance and... sometimes horses. But more with importantly, I love the message of hope of Christ's love in a story with all of the above, if possible. Although, I'm not too picky about the horses anymore. I guess writing was always a challenge for me because whenever I thought I had written a pretty good paper, or story, it always came back marked up and down with red ink. Basically, it would swim in it.

So, I decided that writing was not going to be my career choice. I still loved stories. I used to entertain our guests with crazy skits and things of the sort. My dad was sure I'd be a comedian. It wasn't until I started homeschooling my children and wanted to help my daughter with reading that I decided to write her a story, one that would encourage her to become the young woman of God's heart.

I wanted my ten year old daughter to read something that encouraged her to lead a life for Christ. So, I started to write. I had a blast doing it. When I was done, I wondered if there were more stories to write and the quiet voice urged me to write a story that had been with me since my second year at boarding school. I sat down and started to write, and that was it. I haven't stopped since. I love writing because God always meets me in my stories, wherever I am. It's really quite humbling and encouraging. I hope that what I write encourages others.
